  •  One can only hope Santorum runs (6+ / 0-)

although even the vague prospect of him winning as President is absolutely terrifying. But he is really repubnant (repugnant Republican), and I think he would crash the entire down ticket. It would be a turning point in the GOP, they have gotten so stone cold crazy, that only a resounding defeat, like with Goldwater back in '64, would move them back to reality, maybe.

in the primaries might be a very good thing indeed. I agree that it would be terrifying if he were actually elected President, but the more likely outcome is chaos and fear and destabilization of the GOP.

If Santorum wins the nomination, the race will boil down to this:

Obama: Bin Laden's dead and GM is alive
Santorum: Stop gay marriage or we'll be f@cking dogs

Santorum is not a serious candidate. He's not even a serious man. He will siphon off the idiot low-information white voters in the middle of the country, make them irrelevant and the rest of us will be able to move on. If Santorum is the nominee, we will win down-ticket too.

One must remember that in all three states that voter turnout was only 2.3% of eligible republican voters. That is abysmal for them and quite advantageous for the rest of us.
