Firstly, Gingrich is going to fade, like he did last night, throughout the South. There is more than enough anti-Romney sentiment for Santorum to win, even if Gingrich stays.

Secondly, Gingrich's campaign is running on fumes, much like Rick Perry's was. He wants to destroy Romney, at all costs. He knows there are at least 2 debates before Super Tuesday, and he'll use them to viciously attack Romney, while also protecting Santorum.

My prediction remains that Gingrich will damage Romney with attacks in the two debates, drag him in the mud, and let Santorum be the adult in the room. Gingrich will then look at the polls come March 3rd and pull out before Super Tuesday and endorse Rick Santorum, which gives him the boost he needs to win big on March 6th.

Gingrich knows he can't win the nomination, but he can either damage Romney to the point that Santorum wins, or damage him to the point where Romney wins a nomination not worth having. Either way, Newt extracts revenge.

Couldn't agree more. Newt is the flavor du jour much like Herman Cain and Donald Trump before him. Santorum is at least plausible in that he's largely unknown, without baggage as you say.
