  •  Catholic Hospitals are "faith based" organizations (6+ / 0-)

Because they heal people with prayer and the laying of hands? No. Because everyone working there is a professed Catholic and does whatever the virgin Pope decides when it comes to their naughty-bits? Hell no.

Republicans in lock-step denial of man-made Global Warming and Rick Perry holding a weepy Prayer-a-thon for rain?

    There's your "faith based" organization.
    Today's Republican Party.

Effective activism requires Activists -- Effecting radical change demands Radicals Revolutionaries? That's a whole different ball-game.

    •  A hospital is a hospital is a hospital, period (5+ / 0-)

There's no such thing as a "Catholic" or "Jewish" or "Muslim" hospital. To be a legitimate and well-run hospital you have to adhere to certain medical, workplace and employment standards that are not and cannot be exempt on religious grounds, because they are completely non-germane. If anything, exempting yourself from these standards on religious (or other) grounds is illegal and discrimnatory, a 14th amendment violation at the very least, I'd imagine.
