We just bought a house and had to buy all the requisite appliances. We looked at HD, Costco, and Best Buy. (And we drive past Lowes -- which is just down the street -- several times. Lowes sure messed up with its little bigotry episode right before we bought a fixer-upper.) I ended up buying Kenmore Elite for most of my appliances. Only the refrigerator came from Costco. The Kenmore Elites offered better features and better design at a better price.

When I was young, I bought Kenmore because it was the cheapest and most reliable. My last house had a washer/dryer from 1967 that died 3 and 4 years ago respectively. Now, though, the products are also good products that can compete on features. I love my high efficienciency appliances. They cost more upfront. But the rebates through our utility companies are amazing and each according to energy star info,  cost less than about $50 per year to run.   Assuming that's wrong by half, it's still amazing.

So if you get hit by a bus tonight, would you be satisfied with how you spent today, your last day on earth? Live like tomorrow is never guaranteed, because it's not. -- Me.
