    I had one, too, more years ago now than I care to remember.  But I'll always remember the date, and it's coming up soon:  Feb. 22nd.  And why do I remember it?  Because it was so goddamn hard to get, and so traumatic because of the stigma and anti-woman zealotry.  Except for the doctor who performed it.  At my post-op check-up, after giving me the all-clear, he covered my hands with both of his, gave me a sad and gentle smile, and said, "Please. Vote Democratic."'  I assured him that he need fear nothing on that score.

      though I had a few scares when the condom slipped followed by a late period (probably from worrying about the condom slipping) -- my brother used to say that the Lord had angels for drunks and fools, so I guess I had double coverage.
