    My grandparents came from Lebanon.  Just so you know, that stuffed zucchini is to die for.  Not only is your screen name associated with a beautiful place, it tastes good, too.  :-)

    I'm with you on liking native names.  Iowa retains some old names as well, beginning with the name of the state and several counties.  Most are tribe or individual chiefs names: Appanoose, Cherokee, Chickasaw, Keokuk, Mahaska, Monona (peaceful valley), Muscatine, Osceola, Pocahontas, Pottawatamie, Poweshiek, Sac, Tama, Wapello, Winnebago, and Winneshiek.  That's a pretty good representation of native names out of 99 counties.

    There are also several counties with Hispanic names, mostly reminiscent of the Mexican War.  Now, I'm going to see how many of these counties named for "foreigners" are in Steve King's district.  One thing does lead to another, it seems...
