  •  Religious privilege disguised as religious freedom (1+ / 0-)

The catholic religion business has 600 hospitals and 200 universities in the US so it has a lot at stake. Being forced, along with all employers, to cover the cost of no cost reproductive health care for their catholic, non catholic and no religion employees can be heavy; whether paid directly or through insurers.

It is understandable that the catholic business is at the forefront of the religion business opposition to the Affordable Health Care Act. Other large religion businesses are leaning on congress too. Each year, corporate religion spends nearly 400 million dollars just to lobby congress. That is the tip of the influence buying iceberg. Lobbying local and state governments plus advocacy plus advertising amounts to very large dollars and heavy influence. To all of which I would have no objection if it was actually a particular liberty or freedom that religion businesses were pushing to obtain or preserve. But privilege is what they fight for and privilege I will oppose.

I fought for the freedom of persons to hold whatever settles their own conscience. I fought for the flag that represents all of us. I do not want a cross or any other symbol to be seen upon or anywhere near that flag.
