Not sure what your WTF is all about.

But, basically, environmentally speaking, there is no difference whether we allow the XL pipeline to be built or not - at least on a global scale.

already on this thread, and a thousand times before. the opposition to the proposed Canadian pipeline to the Pacific and hence China is at least as strong as in the U.S.--yes, given a decade the Canadians may figure out a way to get tarsands oil out in increased quantities. But if, in a decade, the planet hasn't woken up to climate issues, then the question is moot. In the meantime, fight, don't proactively give up

You are saying if we build this pipeline, the Canadians are unable to fill it with tar sands oil?

You are saying the Canadians do not have the technology currently to fill the pipeline?  And may not for a decade or more? If so, then what is the environmental concern?

        Please respond.. I am curious.

The phrase "to get tarsands oil out in increased quantities" doesn't mean getting bitumen out of the ground; it means getting bitumen out of the country.

He's saying that if the pipeline ISN'T built, the Canadians will have a hard time exporting bitumen in the large quantities that could flow through the pipeline.

build a pipeline to the west coast - Vancouver or thereabouts.  No problem exporting directly to China from there.

has so far been highly successful in blocking that pipeline.
