Beautifully written essay.  I don't watch "The View," but this account of Barbara Walters' statements reminds me strongly of Kay Graham, one-time editor of The Washington Post.  She lived a life of unbelievable privilege compared to the lives of most women, so couldn't really understand what this whole "women's liberation" thing was about.  She did get some inkling of it when, as the widow of the late owner, she proposed to run the newspaper herself.  She met with universal hostility from the men.

Yep, Walters in her way is like the Kochs--thinks she did it all by herself without any help.  Remember the brouhaha when word of her salary got out, years ago?  It was considered disgusting to pay a woman that much.
