I was the first woman to be a spokesperson for one organization, in what is still very much a "man's field." This was in the early 80's, folks! Only at that time had women begun to be promoted into any kind of professional jobs in this macho outfit -- and it happened then only because affirmative action could no longer be put off.

By the time I left the organization in the early 2000s, however, it was already forgotten -- by men and even women who had been there! -- how recently women had been accepted in  mid-level white-collar jobs with the organization.

By then the outfit was patting itself on the back for the handful (yes, you could count them on one hand) of women now working in "non-traditional" jobs where they actually got their hands dirty.

Everyone had conveniently forgotten that all women's jobs there were 'non-traditional," expect clerical and secretarial ones, of course.
