And I think this is contributing in a small, or possibly in a large, way to some of the problems we see the Obama administration having. BushCo folks will be in our federal system long after Obama's second term is over - & the mere thought of how much quiet damage they can do (& have been doing) makes me feel quite, quite ill.

there was a mad rush to move his appointees in to the Civil Service system.  In civil service, it's hard to get rid of an employee without "just cause" who has been working for 6 months or more.  Those people added to those already embedded in civil service.

It must be part of a larger GOP strategy to get all "their people" in place in government.

You could be right about those Bush folks slowing things down or obstructing/delaying government work.  Of course, adding to the costs or inefficiency of government to "prove" government doesn't work is always Republican strategy.  Just elect them to office and they'll show you (win, wink).

There already is class warfare in America. Unfortunately, the rich are winning.

      •  Yep. That's exactly what I was remembering - (0+ / 0-)

the mad rush to move appointees into the Civil Service system.  I do think it is part of the larger GOP strategy. I'm not sure they do anything that isn't part of it - & that the only reason we don't notice some of it right away is that we'd never think of doing it so we don't notice they are (& also because so much of what they are doing looks like a CT to us rational folks until we've been hit in the face by done deals; if I were go back in time 20-30 years to try to tell people what the GOP was up to then & all through the years, they'd put me away because it all sounds so incredibly far fetched).
