When I was young we lived in Aberdeen; my sister was born in Havre de Grace. At that time there was no I-95; if you wanted to drive into Baltimore it took about 90 minutes. We were there a couple of times so my sister could have eye surgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Later on, during grad school days, my girlfriend went to Hopkins so I was back there regularly.

Then I came out, through my (now ex-)girlfriend I met my first boyfriend. Both relationships were quite sunny. After he and I broke it off I continued to visit...even more often once I moved to DC.

I'm not sure where "Gayville" is...would it be the Mount Vernon neighborhood?

One of the more amusing memories I have of my 1970's era visits to Baltimore was seeing John Waters regular Edith Massey (a/k/a the "Egg Lady") holding court in front of her Fells Point store.
