  •  Pro-Choice Lobby Day, Feb. 23rd in Richmond. (33+ / 0-)

As someone who lives here in the Commonwealth of Virginia, I am shocked that our legislature is in the process of passing this bill that stands nothing short of rape. I never thought I would see the day. This, along with the so-called "personhood" bill that is also slouching its way through our legislature and which Gov. Bob McDonnell (a graduate of Pat Robertson's Regents Univ. by the way) has stated he will sign into law (both bills).  With the Democrats losing the state senate last year, there is no recourse to stopping this GOP runaway train at this point.

Its time to fight back. For anyone who lives in Virginia who would like to attend Pro-Choice Lobby Day, it will be held at the State Capitol in Virginia on Thurs., Feb. 23rd. You can contact Planned Parenthood of Virginia to register for this most important event. If you are unable to physically attend, you can still register and participate "virtually" via internet. Please make your voices heard once and for all.

    Thank you.

... should move out of state as soon as they reach the age of legal adulthood in protest of being forcibly raped by an object per Virginia State Law.

That leaves no one to rape except wives and mothers and aunts and sisters and under-age daughters of all the old control-freak men who passed this cockamamie law.  The women tied by law to these creeps may knuckle under these unreasonable misogynistic laws, but the rest of Virginia females need not be subject to that humiliation.

most abortions are sought by married women, most of whom have kids already.

I hadn't read that statistic anywhere.

Many long years ago I did know a married woman who was menopausal and turned up pregnant quite by surprise.  Her children were just out of high school, into college and/or working and she thought she was done with childbearing and raising children.  Her husband had enough sense to support whatever decision she came to, but left the decision about abortion to her since it was her body.  Amidst many tears and guilty feelings, she crossed state lines and had an abortion in the first trimester (the adjoining state permitted abortion at the time; I don't know if they still do or not).  She just couldn't face another eighteen+years of raising another child when she was just barely old enough to be a grandmother and had been so looking forward to more time with her husband with their grown kids all starting their young adult lives.
