    if there are some in the Republican hierarchy that don't really want to win in November.

    If they won the White House, they'd be beholden to the crazy wing of the Party for at least the next 8 years if not longer. But if they lose (and lose big), they have a chance to reclaim the Party and turn it back to the core issues of fiscal responsibility: "Okay, we tried running on the social issues crap and failed miserably -- let's get back to running on the taxes being too damn high and keep the social stuff on the down-low, okay?" Plus they'll have another 4 years of bashing Obama and the Democrat Party and make more money from that than they would if they got into office and actually had to, you know, do stuff.

      it will be the crazy wing of the party crying that they lost because they weren't crazy enough. Thus pushing the party ever further to the crazy side in order to keep the base.
