  •  Great point (11+ / 0-)

I'm guilty of it myself, but we slip into the "allow" language too much.  Oddly enough, the only time the wingnuts put the power in our hands is when they say, "you allowed yourself to get pregnant."

Take my vote for granted at your peril.

    •  Vetgrl, I’ve tried to respond (11+ / 0-)

to your post five times and I keep thinking that I’m not able to put into words what I’m trying to say.  The word allow in most contexts makes me see red.  For me it is the proverbial cape in front of the Bull.  When someone says to me that they will allow me to do something, my first thought is always who gave them the right and power to allow me anything.   We should be shouting “I choose”, the power over our bodies should be ours, and I know some even more liberal minded men would disagree, but ours and ours alone.

What has been so hard fought to win can be so easily lost if we give into apathy.  I'm here tell me what I can do to help.

The first thing lost in war is truth.
