     The problem with running to the middle or trying to be a watered down version of the Republicans is that it leaves the perception that the Democrats stand for nothing.

    The political pundits on TV keep babbling on that the Republicans are the party of moral values. I may disagree with much of the ideas coming from the Republican Party, but they do stand behind a core set of prinicples. The problem with running to the middle and trying to copy the Republicans to achieve a specific end, leaves the impression that the Democrats make decision based on polls and the current political wind.

     Standing for something based on conviction rather then convience is better because it reveals one that is authentic and will make decisions based on  virtue or convinction. Also it would be nice to see politicians start discussing policy in terms of moral reasoning and right vs wrong while making the distinction of "why this is a right/moral policy" instead "how this is good policy."

    Just my 2 cents
