  •  Agree that opposition to the Vietnam War (5+ / 0-)

by young white men that hadn't served was, well, self-serving.  Also, having been reared in a patriarchy, they weren't well prepared for feminism.  However, disagree that Young Republicans were dominate among the male, early Boomers.  They grew up on "Playboy" and very much appreciated The Pill and abortions.  They didn't want a houseful of children anymore than the women did.

Glad the younger man worked well for you, but my experience was just the opposite.

Yes, they slept around, but they also reverted to type after college. Essentially college was the time to party your ass off, then one got serious and married a girl  from  he right background. They may not have wanted 10 kids, so the Pill pleased them--but in every other way, they reverted to the Young Republicans they really were. I saw it happen way too often. And then they got their M.B.A.s and landed cushy jobs. ANd proceeded to hrie women as well or better educated as their secretaries.

The last time we mixed religion and politics people got burned at the stake.
