    Global warming (which is an expression I hate even though it's accurate -- "climate change" would make more sense to people experiencing bitterly cold winters) will not kill us directly.  We're not all going to melt.

    The social disruption caused by climate change will kill us.  That social disruption will lead to things like un-tended nuclear waste which will ultimately leave our planet largely dead.  People have no clue just how toxic high-level waste is or just how much of it there is.  High-level nuke waste will proliferate throughout the water supply and atmosphere over a period of a couple hundred years.  Reproduction will become difficult, and extinction will follow.

    Global climate change will just be a trigger that leads to the social breakdown that leads to the breaking of nuclear seals that leads to a mass extinction event.  And it won't be like everybody will get cancer.  There will be a lot of deformed kids.
