  •  I think there is a real case to be made (5+ / 0-)

    that there needs to be limits on "freedom of religion".  You have a right to practice your religion, but not to impose it on other people, whether they be co-religionists or others.  

    If in order to practice your religion, you need to impose it on others, that is simply unacceptable.  When there is a unavoidable conflict between religious belief and society's laws, the latter must trump.

      If your personal prayer ritual requires you to swing your arms in the air, that's fine -- but your right to practice that ritual stops when your arm hits my nose.

        That old libertarian saw is nothing but cover for an existential game of "Chicken" wherein they use the threat of dire consequences to their target--& an apparent insensitivity to consequences on their part--to induce the target to give ground. I call bullshit on that.
