  •  it goes entirely against the culture I grew up (5+ / 0-)

    with -- a culture that invites debate, discussion, and analytic thinking. Our family dinners when I was growing up (I was the youngest of 4) were wild and woolly discussion times.
    If Rick Santorum can declare mainstream Protestantism as no longer being Christian, I can question the Judaism of people who shut off all opinions and ideas different from their own.

      But abandoned it in late grade school.

      But I firmly think Rick the Sanctimonious has divided loyalties between his religion and our Constitution.

      I remember (showing my age) when JFK had to deal with this issue during the 1960 election.  Same goes for Romney and Mormonism to an extent.

      So, it is an equal idiot problem.
