ScanGauge.  If your vehicle is '96 or newer, it has a little connector below & to the left of the steering wheel.

ScanGauge plugs in there and gives you a realtime readout of miles per gallon.  Pretty quickly you pick up all the clever driving tricks to improve fuel efficiency.

Costs about $175, can be ordered online.  Pays for itself quickly if you drive a lot.

My truck (tradesman's micro-van) is EPA rated at 25 highway, but I've been getting 30 - 35 by driving aware.   So using ScanGauge and subtly changing your driving is about equivalent to a 20% - 30% decrease in the cost of gasoline.

One more side-effect: no more speeding for me!  I used to be Mr. 75+ on the freeways.  No more of that.  ScanGauge paid for itself the first time I tootled past a CHP radar under the legal speed limit and smiled at the officer as I went by.  The first speeding ticket you don't get will pay for it.

"Minus two votes for the Democrat" equals "plus one vote for the Republican." Arithmetic doesn't care about your feelings.
