  •  I am a Vietnam veteran who served honorably (9+ / 0-)

This effort means so much.  The President & First Lady have done a lot to help military families, all military members and veterans.  Thanks to new rules regarding PTSD/MST placed into effect by President Obama a year ago, I and several of my fellow veterans in Tampa who were victims of sexual assault while serving in the military can now collect VA Disability - most get 30% initially (approx $378 monthly - at least something).  The US military was long in denial about male victims of sexual assault.

Vietnam era veterans were not well respected, though some reports (myths) such as people spitting on us were wildly exaggerated and/or untrue - I know because troops usually returned on chartered planes and or Military transport Planes and landed at USAF bases where such behavior was not allowed.  I was stationed at several such bases, worked Base Operations where the planes departed and arrived with troops on board.
