You feared for you life and the lives of the officers around you excuse in this case is false. The officer was behind a barricade. So were the other offices that you "feared" for. The protesters were only rushing to the aid of a critically injured human being. They were attempting to pull the downed man out of further harms way. I'm betting that this officer is the one who fired the "non leathal" round that hit Scott in the head. You feared that Scott might get up or survive. You've already learned that the dead can't sue, and your department will not take action against you for killing. You just wished that grenade was live ordinance instead of just the "non leathal" Flash-bang.
You are a criminal officer. You deserved to be locked up with all the other criminals. The blue wall  does not trump the oath to protect and serve. Your oath does not say " To kill and injure". No job and in prison is where you belong.

towards us so aggressively. The crowd was out of control..........and we feared for our safety.

Evidence like that is hard to get around.  (That's why police go after people with cameras...)

You just volley fired into a group of military demonstrators. There is no excuse for what happened next. NONE! Any properly trained personel would KNOW this. Riot sheilds, kevlar, vambraces, greaves and helmets against UNARMED protestors. The police had all the weapons, clubs, tonfas, guns, grenades, and chemical irritants. NO FUCKING EXCUSE is acceptable in this case.
There are two distinct and related actions that I would call heinious fuckery performed by the police in that exchange. First is the volley fire of "nonleathal" bullets into the crowd. I would bet that the police are unqualified in the use of said weapons, or willfully engaged in tactics that increased instead of decreased the weapons chances to be leathal. Then on top of that you went ahead and used a grenade on peoplecoming to the aid of the injured, Something the police are directed to do, but massively failed at. Do not fucking lie to me that the grenade was for the saftey of the injured you stupid shits. YOU FAILED AS POLICE IN A CRITICAL MOMENT AND BECAME CRIMINALS. Ergo you go to prison in the general population and learn a new skill called survival, or you don't and Darwins theory is proved again as you are a coward, and cowards do not live long in the California penal system. If this seems harsh to fucking bad. The police should be held to a far higher standard of conduct than us poor mortals and when they FAIL they get the maximum punishment because they Fucking well should know better.

Cowards make the worst police officers. You were afraid? Fuck you then, and withdraw from the situation and resign your position as you're not fit to hold it.

My response to that arguement is. The key ingredients in a good cop are a large amount of the following Integrity, Compassion, Empathy, Knowledge, and Courage.
Fear leads to mistakes. Cowardice leads to disaster in pressure filled situtations. Those that hold on to positions that they are unable to perform at minimum professional standards are not fit for that field of work.
The results of that cowardice were caught on film. That police officer went from cop to criminal because he was and remains unsuited mentally for the job.
Do you know what Rules of engagement are?
Basically its like a flow chart for acceptable levels of force up to the leathal levels. Cops have ROEs for damned near every level of threat they can encounter. Properly trained cops know the ROEs front to back, back to front and inside out. There was nothing, I repeat nothing in what occurred in that place and time that warranted the use of ANY force to begin with. After the volley of rubberized slugs. People rushto to the wounded to aid them. ANY COP WHO CLIAMS OTHERWISE IS A LIAR. Not one person tried to breach the barricade. Chickenshit then deployed a flash-bang against first responders trying to assist a head shot man. These actions are clear violations of standard ROEs. The stupid in this whole sequence of events offends me to my core
