  •  The Greek government really has lost (7+ / 0-)

all vestiges of legitimacy--beginning with lying their way into the prestigious E.U. club through turning a blind eye to tax evasion by Greece's 1% right up to asking the less fortunate in Greece to suffer the consequences of this dereliction of duty.

Bad things happen when finances become to complex for even well-informed citizens to comprehend.  Goldman sure knows how to exploit that kind of situation, to their moral shame.

    "[R]ather high-minded, if not a bit self-referential"--The Washington Post.

    •  Corruption in the Greek government (5+ / 0-)

has allowed all this to happen.  Corruption allowed large segments of the Greek population and corporations to escape paying taxes.  Like a shark in the waters, Goldman moved in (in friendly godfather style) to rescue the Greek government.  But with that "friendly" under the table rescue came a very high price that the Greek people are now paying.

"Corporations have no consciences, no beliefs, no feelings, no thoughts, no desires. Corporations help facilitate and structure the activities of human beings, to be sure, and their ‘personhood’ often serves as a useful legal fiction.”-Justice Stevens
