  •  AC is the ONLY way for transmission lines (6+ / 0-)

Edison was a great proponent of DC but DC is a very inefficent way to push power through transmission liines. Edison's way would have required power plants every 10 miles or so.
Tesla's invention of AC made it possible for the power plants to be remote from the comsumer. It made long distance transmssion of  power a reality. It made hydroelectric power a reality. It made it possible to electrify railroads.
Tesla's invention was as important as Edison's. What edison did thhat was so astounding is to create a whole system. You know that the incandescent light bulbs we use and their screw in base was invented by Edison? And all the transmission lines?
The system we're still using was invented in the 1800s. Its way over powered and over amped. Stuff takes less power than it used to. Thatts why all your electronics have a transformer that knocks it down to 6v DC.
