  •  Is there any way to include a petition (5+ / 0-)

along with your diary? It was very powerful.
I suspect there would be a lot of DK signers.
Many thanks for what you write. I sometimes think that if things don't improve for Native Americans under this President then when the hell will they? Obama has at least shown awareness and some action, but it's time for
a lot more.  And for sure there should be a Native American presence on the campaign advisory staff.  It's also all the more urgent to get out every vote given the voter suppression the R's are engaged in all over the country, but especially affecting minority communities. I've only recently started submitting any comments, but have been reading your diaries for a long time. Not so good at embedding/linking etc., but would sign a petition and email White House mentioning your diary and Kalyn Free of INDN as a good possible candidate.

    •  Thank you for the kind words. :-) (5+ / 0-)

I have not used the petition function on the WH site, and I'm not sure about the appropriateness, since this is one issue that should really be directed to his campaign.  I'll have to do some checking, although it will probably be tomorrow before I can get to it.  I'm going to have to get off the laptop shortly and do things like . . . oh, fix dinner and so forth. :-)

      •  I think if you send it to Whitehouse.gov (1+ / 0-)

that it may not even get to the campaign, as there are legal issues that prevent any taxpayer-funded resource from being used for any campaign anything, so it may not be legal to deliver it to the campaign. I've had this come up when calling a Senator or my Congressman and bringing up something I wanted forwarded from one side to the other side, and it couldn't happen (at least not from Congressional office to campaign office).

In fact, when I send this to Maria Cantwell, I'll probably have to send this to her campaign office even though it's not her campaign that is of concern. Since it involves a campaign, I'd probably be best off doing that to make sure it gets through, but there's a second reason: she represents a lot of Indians, too, and she darned well better have at least one high up on her campaign staff or I will threaten to sing "How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria" at a campaign function again. My voice is trained and carrries very, very well...

Why are war casualty counts "American troops" and "others" but never "human beings"?
