  •  It all depends on the price of gas (1+ / 0-)

If it's high, he will have a very tough time of it.  (high gas prices raise the price of everything else as well)

And, it doesn't matter that he doesn't have much to do with the price at all.  Voters will need someone to blame.

It also doesn't help that the last time gas was over $4 per gallon, Democrats/liberals/progressives loudly blamed Bush/Cheney for the rise in prices, so that has already been set in the minds of voters that the president does indeed have control of prices.

Obama can do, but now isn't the time.

And gas hasn't gone up that much since the beginning of the year. Maybe 25 cents. That equates to what, $3 more per tank? It's been jumping around a lot, and it's gone up in bigger jumps, but the really big leaps were last year.

I think the biggest and fastest leaps were right after the 2008 and 2010 elections. Especially 2008.

if unemployment is above 7.7% he wont get elected, if the dow isn't above 12k he won't get elected, if gas isn't below $4 a gallon he won't get elected. ect ect ect.
