  •  It's not nonsense (0+ / 0-)

It's just not related to abortion in any way.

Their opposition to abortion is rooted in the belief that a fetus is embodied with a soul at the moment of conception.

Their opposition to birth control is rooted in the belief that non-procreative sex is a sin, and therefore birth control contributes to sin.

    Completely separate issues.

    •  Completely separate, yet related. Do you agree (0+ / 0-)

Or disagree with the fact that access to affordable contraception is a driving factor in the recent decrease in abortions?
I don't think this is a no causation without correlation issue.

      •  Agree completely (0+ / 0-)

One absolutely affects the other. But they are not related in the minds of our opponents. Just because they are in ours, doesn't mean we should misrepresent their thought process.

it's all about original sin...Eve was responsible for humans becoming mortal, her punishment (and that of her decendents) was to suffer the pain of childbirth...contraception and abortion allow women to escape their biblical punishment. They are absolutely related.

          •  You still have the issues confused (0+ / 0-)

Or are you maintaining that the right's opposition to birth control is because they want women to get pregnant and suffer the pain of childbirth? Because that doesn't make sense.

Their opposition to birth control is about the sin of non-procreative sex.

Their opposition to abortion certainly takes the circumventing god's punishment into account, but these are separate issues.

            •  IMHO you are very naive about what "they" think nt (0+ / 0-)

              If it's
              Not your body,
              Then it's
              Not your choice
              And it's
              None of your damn business!

it's all about "the sin of non-procreative sex." Abortion and birth control allow women to have non-procreative sex. That is the whole story, all that stuff about caring about life (other than life for cute babies) is bullcrap, as is obvious from the fact that nearly all "pro-life" types are enthusiastic supporters of the death penalty, war, and universal gun ownership. "Life" is only sacred to them between conception and birth.
