  •  ObamaCare helped me a year ago. (0+ / 0-)

I needed surgery, and was able to finally get insurance - though through my state - while researching how to apply. In a conversation with someone in the state insurance bureau (not the insurer), I asked if there is a database of everyone's medical history, as I had cancer over 20 years ago and it's supposed to be dropped as pre-existing after 10, even when the initial diagnosis gives no chance of survival (see, 6+ doctors can be wrong). She told me there is one and just with that in my history, my chances of coverage through most companies was nil. I still had to get two letters denying coverage, but that was accomplished within five days of applying to both an insurance broker and of course, the hated AETNA. AETNA even added a non-existent condition, I suppose as lagniappe.

conditions went back ONLY ten years was so wrong. They can use a case of acne 20 years ago, not to deny coverage but give you coverage but then use it to deny you if you develop anything needing expensive care. That way they get premiums for as long as you stay relatively healthy.

health and insurance professionals, but I didn't believe them. Also, they don't get premiums as long as you stay healthy; they cancel the policy and make it impossible to ever get insurance again - until ObamaCares! Hooray for ObamaCare!

the serious illness. that's what "as long as" meant. And you could get insurance again if you went back to work at a company that had a group plan. Most don't exclude preexisting conditions. Most don't even ask employees questions about prior illness.
