    my nephew, a marine newly graduated from parris island and now in combat training at camp lejeune, had a few days of leave between the two.  he took advantage of that time to propose to his now-fiancee on valentine's day.  he had his dress blues on because he'd worked at the recruiting office prior to dinner.  they enjoyed a nice, to-them-expensive dinner, and when it came time to pay the check, they were informed it had already been paid.  anonymously.

    my nephew got the message from that thankful person, and his personal moment was enhanced rather than interrupted.
