    ....since the late 1920s, yes, it's not a good idea to raise ANY taxes on any household earning less than US$ 200K per year.

    And a hike in the sales tax would do just that.

    By supporting a hike in the sales tax you are in effect saying that you want inequality to rise.

      in CA. But with crazy rules for tax increases in CA the tax hike just for millionaires is not going to pass.

    •  Let me clarify actually. I don't think raising (0+ / 0-)

      income taxes in CA is the most efficient way to get revenue. However, property tax reform is even less likely so the deficit needs to be addressed somehow.
