  •  I'm off on the Solstice in 2+ weeks. (7+ / 0-)

My annual trip with my mother who is a cruising fiend.

I have been on several lines but not on Celebrity yet.  Looking forward to it so, so much!

I'm glad you've booked your latest trip; there's nothing quite like leaving the troubles of the shore behind!

    •  I am so jealous! Two weeks. An eternity. I hope (5+ / 0-)

you like the ship.  We cruised on the Eclipse (sister ship to the Solstice) last January and loved the Qsine specialty restaurant - you order off an iPad.  Celebrity is our cruise line of choice, but have only tried HAL and didn't really enjoy it that much.  So back to Celebrity.

      Have a good time!

Princess is too elegant for us -- we aren't ones for lots of fancy touches that don't really do anything.  Esp. when it comes to food.

We have traveled several times on Royal Caribbean which we like because it gives a good value and goes to interesting ports. RCCL and Celebrity are my mother's favorites.

Surprisingly, the dh likes Carnival best. Not that he's a big 'belly flop contest' man or other silliness, but he likes the party mood that suffuses the experience even if you aren't participating in all the madness.  Avoid Spring Break and you'll have a very good time, esp. on the older, more 'out-there' in decor ships. We spend a lot of time wandering around with our mouths agape in amazement. I don't know what their former designer was on...but it was the good stuff.

        They are also comparatively inexpensive.

much in the last few years as we have been busy at home.  I did join the roll call for the TA last night though.  It is an invaluable resource for cruisers, and for their f2f friends who are bored to tears with talk of cruising!
