  •  The GOP needs two things to win (6+ / 0-)

    1) an adversary and 2) a cause.

The 1) Adversary is Liberals who are pro-choice and the 2) Cause is anti-abortion.

That is the fight in the most simple terms and all that is needed to see republicans voted into office.

so quickly to contraception, they have likely lost a significant portion of evangelicals, few of whom are the Duggars and most of whom have two or three kids like everyone else  — and that includes some of the radical right-wing Catholics attacking Obama's birth-control compromise too.

Rachel did a terrific interview with Nancy Pelosi last week which covered these issues.  Pelosi said that during the 25 years she has been in the House, she and others were aware that the anti-abortion issue expanded much farther than the voting public was aware of.

Pelosi said that the anti-contraception sub-text has always been in place but as you say, only until recently has the issue been out in the open.

The religious right has been emboldened by the number of State laws which hinder abortion, the attacks on Planned Parenthood and the voices of the GOP presidential candidates.  Birth control is the logical next step.

I doubt that the fundamentalists were aware that access to birth control is an issue which voters will pay attention to and any attempts to limit it will meet which much stronger opposition than anti-abortion legislation.

we don't need "pro-life" or "anti-choice"--- we can just call them "anti-sex", and let them explain it away...... ;)

just fine on their own as being the "anti-sex" party.
