  •  people have suggested that a white noise (11+ / 0-)

generator can help tinnitus or leaving the radio on low as background noise. One of my sisters-in-law has tinnitus and it has been suggested that open-ear hearing aids can help. Tinnitus is driving me nuts these days, it is a constant buzz with those high beeps that blow out of my ear. People on the menieresUK group were wondering if I had moved to another stage; if so the damn thing is advancing really rapidly. I guess that is good in some ways.

People get vertigo for a number of reasons; so glad that yours only lasted for a few weeks. A friend of mine had BPPV and was convinced it came from some weird environmental thing in her office; she was having really bad attacks but they were able to get the crystals to move though tossing her around on some contraption. :D I had this vision of her being strapped on one of those gizmos that spin you around and upside down ... you know the ones at fairgrounds! :D

    •  White noise - ocean sounds... (2+ / 0-)

I'm a believer in the white noise machine, however, this is b/c I inherited my baby granddaughter's sound machine when she moved with her parents to the UK (couldn't get adaptors for everything)!  I love it -- made by Homedics.  It has ocean sounds (my favorite for sleep with the tinnitus), rainforest, rain, nature sounds, etc -- choose what works best.  You can imagine that the ocean sounds probably sound most like white noise.

I've wondered about hearing aids b/c I'd read they don't work well when you have tinnitus -- I'll have to read up on the open-ear variety.  I believe I have it in both ears, but my right is the worst, and every once in a while now, I have a tone in my left.  It's probably a signal for ET to phone home!  lol
