  •  The caloric test brings on vertigo (3+ / 0-)

    but nowhere near as bad as an actual attack, IMHO! I got vaguely dizzy but nothing unendurable. Mine was with air. I didn't know it was less dizziness for Meniere's sufferers, but that would explain why I didn't get many symptoms from it too perhaps. I've had three caloric tests now!

    And a bunch of others too.

    •  I had no reaction at all, was expecting (2+ / 0-)

      horrible dizziness as that is what happened to some in the support group I was in, nothing happened. They made me bring someone with me just in case, my husband took a half day off work, and nothing happened. got so worked up that I didn't sleep the night before (and that always provokes problems) and nothing happened on my left ear, very slight response on my right ear. Was able to slowly wobble out (like usual) after the test. Glad you can confirm what happened, YuccaPete needs to take the test; at least with a diagnosis they may offer physio, a cane, and other treatments than what he is getting currently.

      •  Yes, it sounds like yours was quite bad when (1+ / 0-)

        you had the test! Mine was toward the burn out stages when it briefly flared back up again while I was pregnant (being pregnant with this stuff is awful; when I was put on bedrest for pre-term labor, I was like, oh now we're talking... eight weeks of bliss... I watched TV, read, had some attacks, and was less bothered by them).

        YuccaPete is a prime candidate for these tests indeed.

        •  I cannot even imagine how rough it must be (0+ / 0-)

          to be pregnant with this condition; it must be truly awful ... you cannot move much, small movements may you dizzy and in the later stages there is someone moving independently of you inside ... it is like adding insult to injury ... sending you hugs with sympathy {{{{{mahakali overdrive}}}}}
