Regardless of the outcome today in Michigan, Super Tuesday is coming.

Santorum does not have the cash or organization to compete on Super Tuesday.

Michigan will be his last gasp.

Santorum is leading in the two states leading up to Super Tuesday and most of the Super Tuesday states favor him as well.  Can Mitt afford to spend millions of dollars in all of those states?

And Santorum has demonstrated that he doesn't particularly need cash.

Here's my version of the best-case scenario:
The Rmoney-Sanctorum death match continues unabated all Spring, disgusting just about everyone.  Republicans are dispirited.  Democrats are energized.  Voters in every primary state get a full double doze of Republican crazy.

Neither candidate has a  majority of delegates heading into the convention.

No white knight is going to ride in.  Because there is no white knight.  Christie?  Way to liberal for the base.  Daniels?  Too boring.  Jeb Bush?  His last name is toxic, and he's too liberal on immigration issues for his base in 2012.

Besides, with the economy improving, no Republican with the chops to become a white knight would be stupid enough to do it.

So they get to the convention, and it's a vicious, angry suckfest.  My only regret is that Molly Ivins and Hunter Thompson won't be around to cover it.
