    right around the corner from Redlands Fruit & Spice Park
    There was a cracker feed store / market across the street where we could buy papayas, mangoes, and a dozen different varieties of avocados.

    We used to go out to Chekika(find it on posted map...near Homestead)
    There used to be a series of spring fed lakes there, crystal clear, loaded with bass and sunfish, and always full of good sized gators.

    Chekika is the end of the road, and offered a geat spot to view the big sky country of the Everglades. On summer nights the towering thunderheads would be filled with dramatic "heat lightning" that provided an mesmerizing evening light show.
