    It's about keeping women barefoot and pregnant, in the classic phrase. In other words, both physically and financially dependent.

    If it's all about "sin", I have a suggestion, since legalized "object rape" seems to be an appropriate response by this crowd to the situation of an unwanted zygote:

    It takes two people to make an unwanted baby. Two "sinners." So let's take the man who also participated in this sinful act and, after a check of the DNA, remove one testicle. If you're going to make a woman go through the agony of labor, (after initially requiring that a probe be forced up inside her) I vote for the partial castration of the other party to the out-of-wedlock crime. (I have no objection to a shot of novocaine being part of the procedure. One must be civilized about these things.)

    Somehow, if we could get that law on the books, I have a feeling that a condom (provided it was still legal) would start looking like a really good idea to a lot of men who now think that preventing pregnancy is totally "her job."
