  •  Does Maine have a Democratic 1st string? (0+ / 0-)

    Or is there something about the state that the rest of us who don't live in the Northeast should know that explains why it has 2 Republican Senators and a Republican Governor?

    It doesn't seem to have the affluence to readily explain the preference for the GOP that it does, especially in light of the fact that it is bordered by fairly dependably Democratic states.

    The state is an enigma to me.  Parts of it, from what I've read, are downright poor.  And Portland, at least when I visited there, didn't feel like Colorado Springs or rural Tennessee.
