And he was more than a little convincing when he said in his UAW speech, "I believe in the American worker. I believe in you!"

Obama has been a nightmare, an absolute nightmare for teachers and education overall. He is a neoliberalizing force that I simply couldnt have imagined would pan out so badly, even though his merit pay crap on the campaign trail made me uneasy.

Even principals are rebelling, a first.

Here's a great (sad) article by one of them.

A Simple Question Teachers Should Now Ask About Their Profession

What one sees in that link is happening precisely because of Obama's education policy. New York is particularly toxic right now. Thanks Cuomo (glad I withheld my vote for that horror of a man) and thanks to Dem-embedded UFT, NYSUT leadership, Wall St hedge fund operatives, bipartisan lawmakers in albany who voted for Obama-Duncan's teacher evaluation menace, in bipartisan unity, and all you other public ed/teacher haters out there who I have failed to mention. The UFT likes to make Bloomberg the main target of outrage but he has been allowed to be who he is, in part by the failed UFT, so I will leave the beating up of him - some bad theater they put on - to the UFT, since they dont seem to be good for anything else, like helping their members fight the forces out to destroy them.

4 more years for a saboteur-in-chief of my profession?

They eat kids, don’t they? Destroying the teaching profession in Wisconsin: Virtual vouchers are next

This is all keeping with the national capitalist plan and the plan is clear:  1). assure that the material conditions of education are reassembled in such a way that no critical thinking can or will be taught, and 2). reduce the profession to that of a WalMart worker, or best said ‘an associate’ or an appendage to a machine, for we don’t want to use the word ‘worker’ or ‘working class’, do we?

This is the same game plan being pursued all over the US by individual states at the urging and priming of the Obama administration and the awful Arne Duncan and his “Race to the Top” [... ]

Thanks, Obama for opening up the ‘educational market’ to the vultures that seek to profit off it [... ] Duncan and Obama have done what no conservative could have done, destroyed education by opening up the grimy privatized door.

      Nope, no can do.

Should a "progressive" Dem blog dwell in the safe zones of a lame party, or should it drive a lame party to break out? If it cant, should it break out?
