Not just GM and Chrysler, but also Ford as well as the North American divisions of Toyota, Honda, and Nissan.  These suppliers often supply many or most of the car companies in some capacity or another, and if the supply chain went down then so would the entire North American assembly system. Ford would have collapsed, and the Japanese companies would have been crippled for years in America.

And as usual, I will take this opportunity to point out how Kos and many others openly issued a big fat "good riddance" to GM and Chrysler. Then when they realized they were in synch with the GOP on this issue they changed their minds for basically political reasons.  So whereas I love reading these diaries from guys like Muskegon Critic, I just have to roll my eyes every time Kos slams Romney on his bailout stance. As a lifelong supporter of Detroit that's just something that will always bother me.

Gentlemen, you can't fight in here! This is the War Room!
