  •  The problem with this respect for the dead crap (10+ / 0-)

    is that people who supported and agreed with the despicable departed don't shut up about what a great person he was.  The end result is to promote a fiction over the truth.

    I value truth over everything.  I regret that the truth about Breitbart may hurt those close to him, but I don't agree that it should be suppressed for some phony "respect."

      I was really offended at the whitewashing of Nixon and Reagan by their partisans, who intentionally used "de mortuis nil nisi bonum" to shield their falsehoods from contradiction by the multitudes who knew better.

      We could focus on specific actions rather than falling back on negative descriptors, but I think a few Civility Hall Monitors will still object because criticism is ipso facto a Bad Thing.
