  •  But from what i understand ... (7+ / 0-)

Limbaugh does this all the time.  I'm not sure why this particular occasion has resonated more than the others, but i'm grateful that it finally has.  The world will be a far better place without that monster's effluvium.

And yes.  Some will bristle that i've called him a monster (dehumanizing language and all that), but i chose the word very deliberately and will not take it back.

more than RL's usual rants do because he went after a private citizen who just wanted to testify -- she was not a politician. Unfortunately, public figures have to be prepared to be assaulted with the kind of venom that RL and his ilk spew forth daily.

      •  And perhaps more importantly... (11+ / 0-)

...by implication, he smeared ALL WOMEN who use and have used birth control (98% of us!) and/or think insurance should help to defray the costs of this very basic health care.

one GOPer has called him on it...yet.

Limbaugh is the GOP Leader and it follows that his views are those which are shared by his followers.

Limbaugh said that HE is paying for insurance coverage for the women at Georgetown.  This is not only about disparaging women, but also about tying prescription birth control to the usual welfare-state gibberish.

Of course he's wrong about taxpayer subsidized health insurance as it relates to a private employer, but, hey, when do facts matter to Limbaugh?

--that he wants to see pornographic videos of her.  That's just gross.

          •  "gross" in every sense of the word... (1+ / 0-)

...given that it's Rush Limbaugh we're talking about here.
(Apologies to all for the blatant size-ism / looks-ism, but it was just sitting right there...)
And then Rush wonders why women don't like him, and those few who have been willing to marry him seem to change their minds not too long after...

          •  This was, to me, the difference maker (2+ / 0-)

RL has been calling progressive women "feminazis" for years.  His audience gets a little tingle when he coins such clever word play.  But in this case, he revealed something about his own sick prurience.  It started with his attempt to label a Georgetown law student as a "co-ed"  this is retrograde lingo implying that she was sexually loose.   Not satisfied with inuendo, the fat one decided to equate her with a prostitute, and not satisfied with that he demanded that he be allowed to watch the videos.

This last move is the kind of thing that should outrage not only women, but every parent of a daughter.  Count me among the latter.  My 23-year-old daughter is still on our health insurance plan.  Does she have access to contraception as part of that plan, yes; but it's not my business if she avails herself of that benefit.  And it's absolutely none of Limbaugh's business.  If he were to try to make it his business, he'd better be prepared for   the consequences.   A gated Florida enclave won't be a secure enough hiding place.  The villagers will come with pitchforks and torches.
