    Yes, we all know that he wouldn't have done it, because it would have required using a bunch of political capital, and Obama wasn't even willing to do that to close Gitmo when he got into office, before the Republicans pushed through a bill making that harder (which he also didn't veto, and didn't get Reid and Pelosi to block.)  

    The Republicans who've been whining about how Obama hasn't been showing the country any leadership would have been the first ones to yell and scream if he'd done so, and if it meant the military had to stop buying weapons from their pork barrel contractors until they stopped playing chicken, remember how well "shutting down the government" worked for Gingrich when Clinton stood up to him.
