ford cars and trucks. One of my future projects is a 39 Deluxe Coupe that I have and will be starting it's build shortly after the completion of my 31 roadster that has a 53 Merc flathead in it with a 39 gear box and 40 ford rear end. Plans for the 39 are to keep it pretty stock except for a dropped front axle and a low mileage 46 flathead I own.

I also play with the flathead four bangers as well. Upgrading the one in my 30 Victoria with a few simple bolt on speed enhancements.

Did I say I love flatheads???

    Thanks for noticing.

    •  Tom's stuff was mostly stock (3+ / 0-)

He ran a body and fender shop down in the Florida Keys.  Brought the body work back to life, new upholstery and fresh paint.  The engines had probably been rebuilt, but just cleaned up, no improvements.  He gave up on cars in the mid seventies, rich guys were making the hobby too expensive, so he switched over to early diesel trucks.

restorations for about 40 years and thought I would once try walking on the wild side. Will tell you this..modifying one is alot tougher than restoring one. You are now into engineering things like suspension etc etc.
