    •  TheLupo seems OK (4.00)
based on his previous comments. Perhaps he didn't like your picture? I know I didn't.
    •  I guess those of us who (3.33)
are really concerned with the establishment of a theocracy and what was a very serious discussion and who do not think that this dancing figure adds to the discussion are trolls.  I could say more but lets just leave what I really think about this dancer out of it.
      •  You are new here (3.20)
Maryscott is not a troll.  Please consider changing your rating.  Rate it a 2 if you must.

        •  Ok.. So now we will censor each other... (4.00)
I understand that the author is not a troll.  I thought we were judging just that one post and not her entire being.   I thought I had a right to say how I felt about this one post.  So am I allowed to have a vote in opposition or are you the Sen. Frist of this site and if I do not like this one comment as opposed to the two hundred other comments this poster has previously made, then am I a non Christian?  I will let my priest know on Sunday and I will contact my Senator, who just happens to be Harry Reid, that apparently, I am not a good Democrat either because I do not agree with everything that some people hold sacred.
          •  I am so sorry... (none)
I certainly didn't envision THIS silliness -- I have now become one of those people who derails a discussion.

TOTALLY silly. My apologies for saying anything in the first place -- I can only say this in my defense: Painkillers skew my sense of humour a bit.

        •  Troll ratings... (3.66)
The "1" is no longer a troll rating. It deems a comment "unproductive." And I can see Lupo's point, though I disagree. I mean, if we're going to start throwing 1's at comments that aer meant to be lighthearted and funny... just because WE don't think they're funny... There'll be an awful lot more 1s handed out.

Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together, mass hysteria! It'll be anarchy!

      •  Are you HONESTLY telling me... (3.55)
You think my comment deserved a 1 because I added a funny animated gif? If so, wow.

        •  I think the post deserved a one because (3.09)
the "non funny" gif, in my opinion ( and that is all it is), took away from the post and rendered it unproductive as it did not add to the discussion at hand.   BTW, neither is this snipping.  We all have an opinion.  We just disagree as to what is funny.
          •  Comedy is subjective... (4.00)
However rating someone a troll based on your interpretation of what is funny is not only wrong, but Assholic. As a new person coming to the party this is not a good way to greet people or announce you wanna chat and play. MSO's words, skill, and wit on this site is Amazing. You will get to know her, her voice and style if you stick around and are welcomed. Someone seemed to like some of your past comments. However this act of ratings abuse is totally uncalled for. You now must prove you are not an Asshole and will spend some time checking the joint out before tossing daggars. As a new member perhaps you should get to know your way around here before carelessly tossing out troll/unproductive ratings. I've been here only 6 months, but at least I got to know the hood before I tossed out some troll ratings (however they were given to REAL Trolls). Good luck..this is a great site and first impressions are important. btw/ lighten up.

          •  Ratings (none)
I think "non funny" gif deserved a freaking 4, but the distiguished MSOC gets a flurry of 4's wherever she goes so I think it is not necessary in this case.  The graphic was fucking hilarious.  Dancing around and showing some balls to boot?  Hell yeah!!  Nothing like progressives splitting hairs with eachother again.  Especially newbies.

enough for this not to be yet another distraction from the actual diary discussion...

I just wanted to try and confirm that you received my apology. I behaved badly, there's simply no excuse for it.

I keep trying to be a better person, but JESUS, it's taking FOREVER.

          •  Maryscott, You have enough mojo for (none)
several lifetimes. And besides that, you KNOW how much you are loved by legions of devoted users of this site.

Poor Lupo may be a bit deluded, but he ain't a Troll.

            Let's move on, shall we?

          •  For the love of.... (3.00)
Get off your high horse. Your dancing gif was unproductive, and the rater rated it as such. While your writing is often excellent, it does not deify you. Neither does saying "The newbies are downrating me." That also is an unproductive post to this topic.

We, the underlings of DailyKos, are so sorry for daring to question the elite, infallible  MaryScott.

        •  who gives (4.00)
          a shit.

          fighting over points.  WTF?

they should just yank this rating system away. it's bullshit.

      •  Oh for fuck's sake (none)
         .... really.
    •  You know what the most ridiculous (none)
part of this whole troll rating discussion is...

MSOC was writing a personal note to Delaware Dem (the person who's diary this is) and he rated her a four... and people who have absolutely nothing to do with the discussion come along and rate MSOC's comment a 1 because they don't feel it adds to the discussion...

      Ugh. What a waste.

      •  Yep (none)
Sometimes people just need to mind their own business with respect to comments, especially if it is specifically addressed to a person (me) and approved of by that person, who in turn replies with a humorous comment.

Humor is often offensive to the humorless.
