Now, if Obama / the Obama team will call out elected Republican bullshit like this, I'll be really pleased.

    •  that seems to be the trend so far this year... (4+ / 0-)

Barack "I Don't Bluff" Obama has been doing a fine honey badger impression this year. I hope he keeps it up.

interested in reporting when he does that. They downplay it.

But my point is more in reference to the fact that we've read plenty of claptrap out of Administration figures, or even the President himself, about things like "compromise" and "bipartisanship" and "shared sacrifice" and "deficit reduction" when those are pretty much all the last things we need right now, especially when the economy is still in rehab...and especially when Republicans have stated very publicly the only thing they care about is sending Barack Obama packing.

        •  Very late to respond. Sorry. (0+ / 0-)

The thing that people seem to always forget is that when President Obama was campaigning before 2008, one of his
main campaign promises was to work for more bipartisanship, compromise, etc. At that time a huge percentage of people in this country were sick of the partisan bickering and wanted it to stop.

The President kept his campaign promise and has tried very hard to achieve those stated goals. Instead of working with him, the Repugs have moved farther away and made compromise virtually impossible, except in a very few instances. He cannot control that. He gave the Repugs a really long time to work for the good of the country rather than the good of their party. Now, it is clear that they are not
going to do anything except try to boot him and he is getting tougher. If he had not tried or had given up early on the effort to compromise everyone would have called him a liar and said that he failed to fulfill his campaign promise. When one is dealing with a completely recalcitrant person or body of people, it is almost impossible to change the dynamic.
