Not sure how much the court would like the new 7th and 14th both being coalition districts when a Latino-majority district is feasible and the Supreme Court has frowned upon such configurations of late.  Could also be reason to ding the new 6th but considering it's almost entirely within Queens it'd be hard to classify that as a racial gerrymander.  Same goes for the new 16th; it's a coalition district but one that makes geographic sense, being at the state's chokepoint between Connecticut and Jersey.

Oh, and the old 25th already had all of Syracuse in it, and we'r really helped by losing the Monroe County portions, which were what put Buerkle over the top.

I don't think adding Cayuga County and parts of Oswego is better than suburban Rochester.

I'm pretty sure Irondequoit is fairly blue. She faces an uphill battle anyway just because of her fluke win, but this district isn't harder for her than what she had before.

Is definitely more Democratic than suburban Rochester.

Aside from Auburn (which is an addition) I don't see it. Irondiquoit wasn't too bad iirc. Maffei appeals more to the burbs than rural areas
