    One of the problems many in the US have with understanding the Middle East (especially Israel, Palestine and Lebanon) is a problem of scale.  Most of us don't understand how very small geographically the spaces being disputed are.  

    Visiting there and actually seeing the borders and settlements makes the difficulties in resolving the situation much clearer.

      People over there have been trying to kill each other.  I used to care about it.  Then I realized that it's just going to keep going on and on no matter what I think or do.

      I'm sorry so many people seem to feel they're entitled to that strip of land, but as each year passes its harder to find empathy for people who choose to embroil themselves in that mess.  

      I guess, ultimately, I simply lack interest in it.
