If you think otherwise, come to California and look at most of our statewide executive officers.  But I doubt that most people would have to travel that far.

      •  I live in California. (0+ / 0-)

We have plenty of Democrats, but I'd hesitate to call most of them progressive. But, then maybe you idea of progressive is different than mine.

        •  Maybe! Let's check among constitutional officers (0+ / 0-)

Debra Bowen, Kamala Harris, Dave Jones, and John Chiang for starters.  Probably Tom Torlakson too.

Brown may not be a true progressive, but he's as good a moderate problem-solver as you'll find.

Newsom -- well, some find him progressive, and he's good on gay rights.  Lockyer -- not a progressive, I'll give you that one.

How about our U.S. Senators?  Feinstein is a no; Boxer is a resounding yes.

You can define "progressive" to exclude all of these (quite successful) people, but if you do you define the movement down to such a small portion of the population that we become irrelevant.  I think that that's unnecessary and wrong.

          •  DiFi and Boxer... (0+ / 0-)

Meh! Not so much to me. Since Boxer took up residence in Rancho Mirage I notice she seems to be less progressive. I'm not saying Boxer is bad, I'm just sating I think it's time for some fresh blood. Just my dos centavos...
